The National Guard Association of Arkansas (NGAA) will hold its annual state conference the third week in February. The agenda includes a range of activities and meetings, including a reception sponsored by the NGAA president, professional development sessions at the Walmart home office, and an NFL workout session. Plans also include a panel discussion surrounding the topic of transitioning from military to civilian careers. Lastly, activities for attending guard spouses include a brunch and wine tasting at Sassafras Winery, as well as time for relaxed fellowship on the final evening with a meal and live music. Based in North Little Rock, the NGAA serves over 1,800 current and past members of the Arkansas National Guard. On its website, the group says it is:
“…focused on sustaining the highest level of readiness for the Guard and advocating for veteran and military-related initiatives.”
Formed in 1905, the NGAA has served as an advocate for Guard members and their families in terms of employer support, and also maintains relationships with lawmakers in the Arkansas legislature.
The NGAA state conference will be held February 19 to 21 at the Springdale Holiday Inn. The venue is at 1500 South 48th Street.
