The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History will hold an event in Springdale to educate people about forgotten local towns.
Forgotten Towns of the Arkansas Ozarks is a presentation that teaches attendees about overlooked settlements with the help of a local historian. The event is part of the museum’s Bring Your Own Quilt Lunch and Learn program, where guests are invited to sit on quilts by the attraction’s historic barn and listen to expert lecturers. The guest speaker of the activity is Rachel Whitaker, a teacher at Connors State College who went to school at Northeastern State University.
The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History is an educational attraction that opened in 1968 at the old Springdale Public Library building. The organization’s mission is to preserve and provide resources that help people learn about the Arkansas Ozarks. The museum’s director is Angie Albright, a former English teacher who serves on nonprofit boards for groups like the Woolsey Farmstead Advisory Committee. The attraction has many exhibits, such as Settling the Ozarks and Prehistoric Ozarks.
The presentation will be on Wednesday, September 4th from 12:15 pm to 12:45 pm. There is no cost to attend the lesson, and guests don’t need to register for Whitaker’s lecture. People who do not own quilts to bring to the event can borrow one from the venue. History museums that offer similar educational activities may use banner printing to share the dates and times of their presentations with consumers.
