The Springdale Public Library will invite a presenter from the Wild Ones’ Ozark Chapter to teach people how to support local wildlife.
How to Attract & Support Wildlife in the Off-Season is a presentation that shows locals different methods for helping native wildlife during the winter season. The class will go over what landscape changes people can make to attract animals to their yards and will discuss the types of wildlife one may see in winter. Dr. Susan Rupp is the presenter for the class. She owns Enviroscapes Ecological Consulting, LLC and has worked for organizations like the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish.
The Ozark Chapter of the Wild Ones organization is a group that wishes to support the state’s environment by encouraging individuals and businesses to use native plants in their landscapes. The chapter website provides many resources to those interested in purchasing native plants for their yards. Eric Fuselier is the current chapter president, and Pam Morgan is the organization’s vice president. The group hosts events like garden tours and native restoration classes.
The presentation will be on Thursday, October 6 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. People may attend Dr. Rupp’s class for free. Those interested in joining the Wild Ones’ Ozark group can pay $40 per year for a household membership.
