Springdale to experience inaugural SOAR NWA event

In August, the Springdale area will get the opportunity to experience an inaugural SOAR NWA event. This event, hosted by Fayetteville and Open Avenues, will be a celebration of aeronautics and hot air balloons.

The day will begin at the Arkansas Air & Military Museum, 4290 S. School Avenue with a pancake breakfast.

If the weather permits, there will be rides in tethered hot air balloons, and views of them in flight. Balloon pilots will hold a meet-and-greet in their balloon baskets.

A professional skydiving show will take place and individuals wishing to skydive before or afterward will need to pre-register.

There will be helicopter rides, a car show and a Kid Zone.

A main stage will offer musical entertainment including the Island Pacific Dancers, Pilot Arts, Dandelion Heart and Take Cover. Headlining will be Randall Shreve & the Devilles. When the sun goes down there will be a nighttime balloon glow.

General admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for kids 10 and under. A $40 family pack will accommodate a family of two adults and up to four children.

Yellow and blue tank tops and white and gray T-Shirts all sporting the event graphic design are available on the Open Avenues SOAR NWA website.

This first SOAR NWA event is scheduled for Saturday, August 24th from 7:00 am until 11:00 pm at Drake Field, 4500 S. School Avenue Ste F. Fayetteville.
