The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History has three exhibits that will not be around very long.
Happy Birthday, Shiloh! is a photo exhibit depicting the first 50 years in which museum has been operating. It will only be open for viewing until this Saturday, December 15.
Fifty from Fifty is a collection of artifacts – one acquired during each year from 1968 until 2018. This exhibit also celebrates the museum’s 50th Anniversary.
Guest curators from around our region have put together a select group of objects that they consider indicative of the museum’s first 50 years. The exhibit is titled “Selected.” This exhibits runs through April 2019.
Other temporary exhibits include Strange Scenes in the Ozarks. This is a series of silk-screened art from M.E. Oliver’s book that details his childhood in rural Ozarks. This exhibit will close January 13,
Meanwhile, Marketing Magic – a collection of historic advertising memorabilia – will be available until the end of February.
Attendees may also want to examine the museum’s permanent exhibits that in include Ozark Folklife, Modern Times, Settling the Ozards, The Cherokees, The Osages, and Prehistoric People. The other two are The Civil War to World War 1 and 1920 – 1950.
While at the museum, guests can also visit the six historic buildings on the site.
These exhibits demonstrate how important poster printing, photographs and brochure printing are to the preservation of our history. Shiloh Museum of Ozark History is located at 118 W. Johnson Ave.
