Rodeo of the Ozarks is coming at the end of the month. The four-day event will feature parades, a wagon train and plenty of rodeo entertainment.
The John Shaddox Wagon train will be traveling from Harrison to Springdale. The trek is a 100- mile journey that has become the harbinger of the rodeo.
Two parades through downtown Springdale are being planned. Cowgirls, bands, floats and hundreds of horses, donkeys, mules and antique cars participate every year. Floats, bands and marching units are currently getting their banner printing done to introduce themselves to the spectators.
At the rodeo, bull fighters and rodeo clowns will keep the crowd entertained between the bareback riding, team roping, barrel racing, and bother events. Tough Enough to Wear Pink is a Breast Cancer awareness campaign that will award $100 to each event winner who wears a pink shirt.
Events are also being scheduled for the younger set. The Mutton Bustin’ will be for kids ages 4 to 6 years old. This event will have a limit of 25 children per night. The Calf Scramble for 7 to 10 year olds will give out cash awards to the first three kids to bring in a calf. The Goat Scramble for those ages 7 to 9 will have ribbons tied to goats’ tails and the first three kids to bring back a ribbon will also receive a cash prize.
The Rodeo of the Ozarks will be June 27 through 30 at 1423 East Emma Ave.
