The annual Redneck Run 5k and 1 Mile Walk/Run will be here in just a couple of weeks. Runners are encouraged to dig up their favorite straw hats, don their old flannel shirts and overalls, and head out to spend a morning running or walking with friends and family.
Early registration for both the 5K runners and the one-mile run/walkers will save participants $5. The first 75 to register will get T-Shirts sporting the event’s graphic design. Kids 12 years of age and under can enter their own one-mile run for $10.
The five fastest men and five fastest women finishers in the 5K will get awards. There will also be awards for the slowest redneck, the oldest redneck, and the best outfit. Friends and family of the winner for best outfit may be taking pictures of him/her for future poster printing. All children will receive finisher medals.
After the race, all runners and walkers will get a flapjack breakfast accompanied by live country music. All proceeds from the event will go to the local Meals on Wheels group.
The Redneck 5k and 1 mile Walk/Run will be on Saturday, March 31st from 7:30 am until noon at the Springdale Senior Center 203 Park Street, Springdale. The 5k will begin at 8:30 am with the one-mile run/walk following right behind it.
