Springdale art center to participate in reading event

ARt deCentrale in Springdale will be holding a reading activity for children in February, which will be led by a children’s author.

World Read Aloud Day is an event where children can practice reading stories out loud in a fun and supportive environment. The program will include an interactive reading activity and a group art experience. Participants will also be included in a group photo. Meg Dendler and Christina Williamson are two children’s book writers who will attend the event as special guests. People can purchase books from Dendler and Williamson and get them signed by the authors.

The program is to be led by Dr. Tina Howlett, an experienced writer who was previously an educator and community projects coordinator for the Rogers Honors Academy. She has written research papers and taught English to students of all ages. The Ozark Creative Writers awarded Howlett for her book Grandma’s Apron. Her other experiences include being an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas and volunteering for the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.

The interactive reading program will be held on Wednesday, February 7 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. There is no cost for the event, and all ages are welcome to participate. Snacks will be provided at the venue, and each child at the activity will receive a book.
