The Springdale area has many music events coming in February.
The Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra will be welcoming pianist Robert Henry for an evening of Music for the Heart. The program will feature Rachmaninoff’s Concerto No. 2. The orchestra will play Stravinsky’s suite from the Firebird and Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia by Khachaturian. Music for the Heart will be February 9 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at the Arend Arts Center, 1901 SE J St. Bentonville.
On the same day, 11th and 12th grade saxophonists who aspire to attend the University of Arkansas will compete in the 2019 Saxophone Solo Scholarship Competition coming to the Billingsley Music Building. The competition will begin at 9:00 am and end at 1:00 pm, and is free to attend for the public. Winners in competitions such as this usually have photos taken and rush them to local Print shops to get Copies for relatives and friends.
The Concert Hall in the OSU Seretean Center for the Performing Arts in Stillwater will have ‘A Night at the Opera’ on February 8 and 9. The OSU Symphony Orchestra and Opera Theatre will present great opera moments with music from masters such as Puccini, Verdi, Mozart, and Sondheim.
Lastly, the 2019 Day of Percussion, coming on February 10 to the U of A Faulkner Performing Arts Center in Fayetteville, will feature clinics and performances by professional percussionists for percussion students and fans. The free event will run from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm.
