The Hogeye Marathon in Springdale will be held virtually in April to benefit deserving non-profit organizations.
The Hogeye Marathon is one of the oldest running events founded in the state, having initially been formed in 1977. The running activity benefits charities in Northwest Arkansas, including the Alzheimer’s Association of Arkansas, Kendrick Fincher Hydration for Life, and Meals on Wheels of Washington County.
A portion of the marathon proceeds will go to the causes, though participants can also give additional virtual donations. The minimum donation people can make is $15. Hogeye Marathon and Relays has raised more than $412,000 for various charities since 2008.
The first 100 people who register for the Hogeye Marathon will be allowed to purchase an exclusive training hoodie and will receive other event-related goodies. Organizations hosting festivals such as this can promote their cause by giving promotional Pens to attendees.
Registration fees for the marathon will start at $85. Athletes can also participate in a half-marathon for $75. The cost to enter the event will increase over time. There will also be a four-person relay and 5K run/walk people can join.
No refunds will be given out to participants, and the marathon will not accept same-day registrations. The Hogeye Marathon will be held on April 24. Course maps for the activity can be found on the event’s website.
