Melissa Saulnier will hold a workshop for aspiring writers in November at Kaladi Brothers Coffee in Anchorage.
Storytelling Made Easy is a one-day class where writers can learn about writing stories from a published novelist. The course will teach students how to choose their genres, pick the point of view in their stories, and build their main plotlines. Attendees will even learn about creating memorable characters and dividing their works into chapters and scenes. The five basic elements of storytelling will also be covered during the workshop.
Saulnier is an author and book publisher who has written novels such as Fallen Race: The Other Realm and Savvy Writers Create Books. She owns Northern Gate Publishing and has worked with organizations such as Tell Your Story Retreats. Saulnier attended the University of Alaska Anchorage and Umpqua Community College. She also leads the Just Write Club, a group that meets at the King Street Brewery in Anchorage and offers writers helpful resources.
The writing workshop will be held on Saturday, November 9 from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. Tickets to the event will cost $75 per student. Those who register for Saulnier’s workshop will receive a binder at the event.
