Anchorage university to hold series on indigenous research

Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage will hold a three-week long program during May on conducting indigenous research.

The 6th Annual Alaska Indigenous Research Program is an event where people can learn how to conduct culturally responsive and respectful health research on Alaska Native and American Indian People. The event is a collaboration between Alaska Pacific University and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. Each week of the program will cover a different topic, including research ethics, advanced research, and introductory research.

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is a health group that supports local Alaska Native and American Indian populations. The organization offers healthcare services at the Alaska Native Medical Center and conducts disease research. There are many departments at the medical center, such as pain management, behavioral health wellness, and general medicine. The organization also has departments for emergency medicine and cardiology.

The indigenous research program will be held each Monday through Friday from May 6 to May 24. The first and second week of the event will cost attendees $300, and the third week is free to attend. Those interested in participating in the research experience must register by May 5. Each session will be held at the Carr Gottstein Building. Colleges that host similar programs to this may use brochure printing to give people educational materials that can be brought home.
