Anchorage to organize fishers summit

The Alaska Young Fishermen’s Summit will return to Anchorage in December at the Marriott Anchorage Downtown.

The Alaska Young Fishermen’s Summit is a yearly event where people in the commercial fishing industry can meet with other professionals and take part in intense training sessions. The conference is presented by the Alaska Sea Grant Marine Advisory Program. There will be industry leaders at the event who will discuss topics like Alaska seafood in the global marketplace and fishing business management. Attendees can also participate in a North Pacific Fisheries Management Council meeting.

There will be a special training session held during the summit where people can learn crucial survival skills. The Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor Class will take place at the Aleutian Pribilof Island Community Development Association. The topics discussed in this training session include cold-water survival skills, abandon-ship procedures, and helicopter rescues. Students will also learn how to recover those who fall overboard.

The fishermen’s summit will be held from December 5th to December 7th. Those interested in attending the event can pay $200. Alaska commercial fishers can receive a $100 discount on their admission to the conference. The Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor class will cost $225 and will be held on December 8th. Venues hosting industry events such as this may use banner printing services to share the logos of their sponsors with consumers.
