Anchorage to host pop culture convention

Fans of comic Books and pop culture can attend an event in April hosted at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage.

The Artic Comic Con is a two-day event where people can meet with others in their fandoms and celebrate their favorite series. Brad Erickson and Mike Lajoie co-founded the convention, and the event coordinator is Kristin George. Guests may dress up in costume for the comic con, though all outfits must be family-friendly. Those who wear vulgar cosplays will be denied entry to the convention. No pets are allowed inside the Dena’ina Convention Center.

There will be many special guests at this year’s event, such as C. Thomas Howell, Faye Mata, and Jacob Bertrand. People can purchase selfie opportunities and autographs from the event’s guests. There will also be a special performance by The Kids in the Hall, a Canadian comedy group that created their own television show. Attendees can browse several vendors at the convention, like Ant Blair Creations, Pushcakes Totes and Such, and Van Dyke Arts and Engraving.

The Comic Con will be on Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th. Weekend passes for the convention will cost $68 per person, and VIP tickets are $207. Those with VIP admission can access the event through an exclusive entrance and will get to skip lines to meet celebrities. Organizers of similar conventions to this may utilize banner printing to generate more hype for their events.
