Former Falkirk pub to be turned into nursery

An old pub in Falkirk is set to undergo a process of conversion before reopening to the public as a nursery for children aged five and under.

Endeavour House Ltd is the developer behind this scheme and it has now secured the necessary planning permission to move forward with it. The project will see the building that used to house Laurie’s Bar, located on Mary Street, converted into a nursery for young children in the area. The building has been vacant ever since the pub closed its doors.

In the supporting statement that it submitted to the council alongside the proposals, the company states that it is only the ground floor of the building that it is planning to alter.

The statement says that this lower floor will be divided up into three sections for children between two-and-a-half and five, 18 months and four-years-old, and two-year-olds – with this last area being a quiet space. Poster printing is often utilised to advertise new services like nurseries.

According to the Falkirk Herald, it then goes on to say:

“The proposals make best use of the existing building and will significantly enhance the general amenity of the area while providing an important service to the local community.”

No date for work on the conversion of the building to start has been announced yet.
