What's Happening in Falkirk, Scotland…

Falkirk to get new sci-fi aerial crossing

A spectacular new aerial crossing that is being described as like something out of a sci-fi movie looks set to be built in Falkirk, after the funding needed for it was secured.

Plans for the project, which is called the Westfield Crossing, were first revealed several years ago, but £20m needed to be found before it could actually be built. Now that money has been provided by the UK government, which means the crossing may soon be a rival to other attractions in the town such as the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel.

Brochure printing shops in Falkirk can be used to help the town show off its various visitor attractions like these ones through glossy booklets.

The crossing project was first proposed three years ago, but since then the design for it has morphed from something fairly basic to a futuristic vision that will see four circles linked up by roads – with all parts raised above the ground.

Beyond its startlingly ultramodern look, the planned crossing will have a real practical use for residents. It is intended to allow pedestrians to get to places like the Kelpies, Helix Park and Falkirk Stadium in safety by enabling them to walk above the cars and other traffic.

A date for the actual building work on the Westfield Crossing to get started has yet to be made public.
