What's Happening in Falkirk, Scotland…

Falkirk host Kelpies ceilidh for St Andrews Day

Falkirk is all set to celebrate St Andrew’s Day in style this year, with a special outdoor ceilidh at the town’s famous Kelpies statues.

This event is being put together by Falkirk Council and Scottish Canals. It has been given the name ‘Ceilidh @ The Kelpies’ and will see the landmark statues serve as the backdrop to a night of traditional Celtic music. The event is open to everyone and local people are being encouraged to dress up. The organisers are promising a magical evening of singing, dancing and community spirit.

The music on the night will be provided by Whisky Kiss, a band that specialises in Scottish music. Securing this band is a real coup, as it is a chart-topping act. Whisky Kiss is the sole band of its type to land a number one single on iTunes.

When it comes to promoting local events, the organisers have several options. One is to go to Falkirk shops that offer poster printing, and put up advertising posters all over town.

In addition to marking St Andrew’s Day, this ceilidh will also celebrate the anniversary of The Kelpies Experience. That was launched one year ago and lets people explore the statues in an interactive way. It is a charity fundraiser too, which has already brought in more than £700,000.

This event will take place on 28th November.
