Celebrated classical singer to be showcased in Falkirk

A singer who has been credited with helping to increase the popularity of classical music will be showcased in Falkirk next month, without even setting foot in the town.

Andre Rieu is set to perform in a show accompanied by the Johann Strauss Orchestra. The special winter concert is taking place in Maastricht, which is his home, but people in Falkirk will be able to enjoy it too. This is because it is scheduled to be screened by Falkirk Cineworld, making for the perfect pre-Christmas treat for music lovers.

This concert has been given the name ‘Silver and Gold’ and it will have a distinct seasonal theme. Alongside the music, there will be an ice rink with skaters on screen. Decorations will include 50 Venetian candelabras and 150 chandeliers, with the aim of capturing a sparkling, wintry atmosphere.

Rieu is planning to sing many festive carols as well as other songs related to Christmas. Among them will be ‘Sleigh Ride’, ‘Ave Maria’ and ‘Jingle Bells’.

Demand for tickets to the screening is sure to be high, as residents seek festive-themed entertainment in the run-up to Christmas. Local venues can use poster printing from Falkirk shops to promote their shows.

The concert is also set to feature guest stars, including Emma Kok, who will sing ‘All I Want for Christmas’.

It will be screened by Falkirk Cineworld on 7 December.
