What's Happening in Falkirk, Scotland…

Ambitious new Falkirk development in the works

A largescale redevelopment project that is taking place in the centre of Falkirk, which is set to include a brand new town hall, is projected to be underway, according to recent announcements by the council.

Falkirk Council has issued its draft timescale for this project. The first stage in this redevelopment will see the council acquire the Antonine Hotel and Callendar Square retail centre at the beginning of next year. These will then be demolished, and the area cleared by summer 2025 so that building work can begin.

The project will see a new public space, library and theatre created at the site, with the hopes that it will get more people visiting the centre of town. A brand new town hall is also part of the exciting plans, replacing the existing one, which will be knocked down.

Brochure printing from Falkirk shops is one of the ways that the council could show off what this planned regeneration project will look like, once all of the work has been completed.

The authority is currently in the middle of buying the site, and the gymnasium and retail centre located there are expected to shut by the close of 2023. The hotel and the Department of Works and Pensions have already shut.

If all goes to plan, the council should expect to see everything finished and ready to open by the end of 2027.
