School in East Kilbride to be expanded

A school located within East Kilbride is set to undergo a major expansion, with the confirmation that Plans have now been given the go ahead by the local council.

Developers submitted proposals for the expansion of Our Lady of Lourdes Primary to the planning committee. These will see an extension built in the form of an additional storey on top of the existing building. This will provide the school with another three classrooms, but it is only one part of the ambitious plans for the facility.

There will also be a new entrance built for pedestrians, featuring both stairs and a ramp for disabled access. Furthermore, energy efficiency levels at the school will be improved through the addition of roof and wall cladding, heat pumps and several charging stations for electric vehicles in the car parking area.

East Kilbride shops that provide Letterheads can be useful for official letters which schools like this one may need to send to parents to let them know about planned changes.

In total, the expansion plans are expected to cost around £4.754 million, which will be provided by the council. The work is now expected to get underway very soon, with pupils scheduled to attend Jackton Primary for the start of the school term so that the improvements and extension can be carried out.
