This stadium will be the home of the Caledonia Gladiators basketball franchise and is being constructed at a cost of millions of pounds. Its chosen location is the PlaySport Scotland leisure hub, situated in East Kilbride. It will have seating for 1,600 fans, as well as a brand new, state-of-the-art basketball court and a special fan zone that houses giant TV screens.
All of those exciting amenities have been showcased in the released CGI images of the stadium. These images also show the stands emblazoned with Saltires. The first match at the new stadium will see the Gladiators take on English franchise the Surrey Scorchers.
Local sports teams can advertise their fixtures using printing services in East Kilbride, as a way of securing ticket sales and promotional programmes for their upcoming matches.
Financing for the stadium has come from owner Steve Timoney. He told the Daily Record that:
“We’re really proud of how the new stadium is coming together and pleased to be able to share CGIs with supporters showing how impressive it will look once completed.”
It is scheduled to open for the first time in early October.
