The company behind these Plans is Swan Group, a firm that is focused on developing and building affordable homes. The plans it has submitted to the local council for approval would see the construction of 105 new homes, with these being a mix of flats and terraced houses, within Law Place. The properties would be targeted at those on limited incomes.
Having purchased the land there, the initial plans were for a smaller number of homes, but after talking to the council, Swan Group opted to submit a more ambitious development proposal for consideration instead.
The firm has already hired architects to come up with a design, and if the council gives the nod, work will begin at the start of next year, with a completion date of 2019. Ross Martin, chairman of Link Group, who are collaborating on the project, told the Daily Record:
“Developments like Law Place in East Kilbride will help to address the real need for rental accommodation that is affordable for people on relatively low or fixed incomes. Link can help to provide a secure future for them by working with developers.”
