Local star to sing at charity event

An East Kilbride celebrity who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent has been helping to promote a new charity event that is taking place in the region.

Savifest, a local festival that is designed to raise money for the assault victim support charity SAVI, is set to be held in Glasgow in November following a successful festival last year. Jai McDowell, a singer who appeared on Britain's Got Talent, will be performing at the gig. Jai will appear alongside a diverse lineup of local music acts, including local band The Detours and Megan McKeown, a hotly-tipped singer-songwriter.

Festivals like Savifest rely on selling tickets to raise money, so successful promotion of the events is crucial. Festivals like this often create their own promotional materials using poster printing and banner printing.

East Kilbride News recently spoke to festival organiser and the founder of SAVI, Annemarie Campbell. She said:

“This year will be bigger and better than ever. Last year’s inaugural event was a pilot really but we have been much more organised this year. We are delighted that Jai took the time to visit Duncanrig to help raise the profile of Savifest and also the charity itself.

“The event is not only about raising funds but is also about raising awareness and giving young up and coming acts a chance.”

Savifest is set to be held at legendary music venue Barrowlands in Glasgow on 2nd November 2012, and tickets are on sale now for £5 each from the Savifest website.
