Lanarkshire X Factor star eager to pass his driving test

X Factor star Nicholas McDonald from Lanarkshire, who recently returned home to spend Christmas with his family in Motherwell, made the most of his time off before the X Factor tour by signing up for driving lessons. The singer had his first driving lesson with mentor Louis Walsh after he turned 17, and is now eager to get learning.

After coming second in 2013’ X Factor competition, being beaten by Sam Bailey, the reality TV star spent Christmas with his family and friends in Motherwell. During his time off, he signed up to a driving school and got behind the wheel with the help of Stephen Gray, his new instructor. According to McDonald, his instructor has every confidence in him. He hopes to take his theory test soon, once he has had enough theory practice.

His first driving lesson took him around East Kilbride, just one of the areas in Scotland that supported him during the X Factor competition. Many supporters or fans may have made use of poster printing companies in East Kilbride to show their support with ‘Vote for Nicholas’ Posters.

Next on the agenda for the star is to start preparation this month for the X Factor tour. The first date is the February 19 and the singers will be performing in Belfast.

Speaking to the Daily Record, McDonald said he is excited about the tour and the further future, as coming second to Sam Bailey is only the beginning and he still has his love for singing.
