East Kilbride youngster on course for fundraising goal

A young person from East Kilbride is making rapid progress towards the charity fundraising target of £100,000 that she set herself, as part of her role as a Yorkhill Children’s Hospital Young Ambassador.

Jenny Cook, aged 12, hails from the Stewartfield district of the town and she secured a further £1,000 towards her target recently, courtesy of a donation by the Burn Stewart Distillers.

So far, the courageous Carmunock Primary School pupil, who lives with the ulcerative colitis bowel condition, has raised a remarkable £65,000, via a number of local events and the ‘Tea Jenny’ days she organises each year.

Her ambition is to get this total up to £100,000 by the close of 2015, with all money generated going to the Catherine McEwan Foundation and Yorkhill Children’s Charity.

Charity campaigners in the area can use Print shops in East Kilbride to supply them with Posters, Flyers and other materials to help promote their cause.

A Burn Stewart Distillers spokeswoman told the Daily Record that:

“Jenny’s story really appealed to us. She has done so much for charity – she really is an inspiration.”

Jenny has made an appeal to local businesses for assistance in reaching her latest goal, which is to generate £5,000 during IBD Awareness Month, by the end of May.

The next step for the indefatigable youngster is a cake sale event at Long Calderwood Primary School.
