East Kilbride workers to do charity cycle

A group of physically fit managers from supermarkets across East Kilbride are set to undertake a cycle ride that will take them all the way to Paris to raise money for charity.

The team is being led by Jim Harper, a Scotmid regional business manager, and Gillian McFall, a store manager for the company. It will represent the most challenging charity effort the company has ever undertaken, with the cyclists set to cover 300 miles to raise cash for Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland.

Overall, eight employees of the firm are taking part in the ride, and they are preparing for it physically and psychologically by undergoing a serious training regimen.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Harper stated:

“Every year we commit to working with a charity that is close to our hearts and this year we’re delighted to be supporting Alzheimer Scotland and Alzheimer’s Society.”

He went on to add that everyone was looking forward to experiencing both Paris and London as part of the ride, and that he felt sure customers and work colleagues would back their efforts with financial donations.

Charity fundraising activities such as this one frequently call on the help of printers that can create leaflets to help get the word out to local people about them.

This London to Paris ride will take place between 18th and 22nd of May.
