East Kilbride could get new stadium

Hopes for the construction of a brand new stadium for use by the local community in East Kilbride have moved a step closer to being realised, as South Lanarkshire Council has given the Plans the go-ahead.

Among the groups that have been campaigning for this stadium over the past few months has been the Sunday Club run by East Kilbride FC, which provides support for children with special needs.

This club offers groups for children affected by physical disabilities, cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy, Asperger’s sydnrome, autism and other conditions. Should the stadium be built, it would be the first club to make its home there.

During a recent trip organised by the Sunday Club, parents with children who attend it explained how vital the plans for this new stadium were to the future of the club.

Speaking to a reporter from the Daily Record, Jacqueline Ferrie stated that the Sunday Club had really helped her son and that moving to a larger home would let it take in more local children, adding:

“The new stadium will give him the chance to play both indoors and outdoors and to continue to play with his friends but also with new children as the club expands.”

Local clubs such as this one often make use of places that provide promotional items, so that people attending can be given gifts that help to advertise them.
