The Village Centre is a multi-purpose building used by around 50 community clubs and groups and is run by a charitable organisation. The organisation is currently in the process of raising funds that are needed to carry out essential building work at the centre, which will cost around £90,000.
The Village Centre was recently given a welcome funding boost from a company called Viridor, which awarded the centre a £30,000 grant.
Margaret Calder is the manager of The Village Centre. She spoke about the donation in a recent interview, saying:
“The building project continues and we were delighted to receive word of a grant of £30,000 from Viridor, who have a depot in Strathaven Road. This takes us one step nearer to our target of £90,000 giving us £62,000 in the pot. This will all go towards the building of the next phase which includes the desperately needed cafe storage and staff facilities plus access to and fitting out of an upper-floor level which was started in the last phase of building.”
Community centres are often run by not-for-profit organisations, yet they still incur a number of running costs such as rent, utilities and bills for things like Stationery and full colour printing.
East Kilbride’s Village Centre is hoping to spend its latest donation on building extra storage for the café area as well as installing new staff facilities. The money will also go towards the completion of an upper level to the building, giving the centre’s users extra space to conduct their activities.Get a Free Quote for Stationery
