Dancers from East Kilbride in step for charity

A group of dancers from a club in East Kilbride demonstrated that they have big hearts as well as twinkle toes recently, when they succeeded in raising close to £2,000 via a special fundraiser.

The Starlight Dance club performers put its dancing skills to good use to raise cash for local organisations Kilbryde Hospice and East Kilbride Dementia Carers. The town’s Ballerup Hall served as the venue for the event, which brought in roughly £1,800.

Alongside their on-stage performances, dancers from the club also took part in a number of games designed to boost the final total. Over 150 residents of the town chose to attend on the evening and the combination of charitable giving and entertainment ensured they had a great time.

According to the Daily Record, Jennifer Connolly, the group’s principal teacher and director, told a reporter from the East Kilbride News that family experiences with dementia made it a cause close to her heart, adding:

“I am so proud of our Starlight dancers for dedicating themselves to this night and helping to give back to the community we dance in. These causes will greatly benefit from the money we have raised and I am overjoyed Starlight has been able to do this for them.”

Organisations like this frequently employ poster printing, to help them advertise themselves and attract new members.
