Kian Wilson, who is 14 years old, and Lucy Hunter and Anna Haughy, both 10, secured a place at the Corneo Dance Festival and Camp through a scholarship. This is held in Ancona, Italy, and all three of the youngsters – who attend a dance school in East Kilbride – made such an impression that they have been awarded further scholarships for next year.
Ryan Daniel Beck, an acclaimed choreographer from New York whose clients have included Beyoncé, was teaching at the camp and was struck by the talent of the three. This led to them being offered a chance to return to the camp in 2017. Anna and Kian have also been handed a New York dance scholarship.
Kian, who attends Duncanrig Secondary School in East Kilbride, told the Daily Record that the week he had spent at the camp had been his most exciting ever, adding:
“Italy was an amazing experience. I left feeling inspired and cannot wait to return next year. I can’t believe how lucky I am to have been awarded another two scholarships for next year.”
