Watfords transformation continues

The town centre of Watford is being upgraded and the work should be completed in September.

The transformation of the town is causing some disruption for residents and visitors. However, Watford Borough Council has made some provision to enable access while the work is ongoing. The council has been particularly keen to assist individuals with disabilities as the inconvenience may have had the most impact on them. Printing services in Watford can be used by organisations which want to communicate with the public.

Ultimately, the construction effort is being undertaken in order to make Watford a more enjoyable place to be in and around. The temporary hardship will soon be forgotten once people are using wider and smoother roads. Any pedestrians who may have been complaining about the current difficulties should appreciate improved pavements in the future.

One specific problem seems to be the present position of taxis in relation to the main shopping hub. Not everybody finds it easy to walk the distance between the two locations. It would seem that patience will be necessary for those affected by this accessibility issue.

Nevertheless, there may be some congestion in Watford before the works are finished in September. This is in part because of the cultural offer of the town. Literary fans may welcome the Big Wordfest this March but using restaurants and shops during the events may be slightly more difficult than normal because of the transport situation.
