Watford to host return of Fringe Festival

An arts event that has become a popular part of the summer calendar in Watford will be taking place again this year, as the Fringe Festival returns to the town.

This year’s event is scheduled to run for one month. It will be introducing new elements to the mix, including the first-ever performances at outdoor venues. In total, the roster will contain over 50 different live performances, ranging from family shows to stand-up comedy, music, theatre shows and dances.

As in previous years, the 2024 event is being put together by the Watford Pump House arts centre. However this organisation has a number of partners, including Watford and Three Rivers Trust, the Palace Theatre and Watford Borough Council.

The number of venues that will host performances this year is 15. Among them are the Palace Theatre and the Pump House, as well as the LP Cafe, the Barn, Cheslyn House and the Garden Rooms. Shops in the town that can supply banner printing may also be called in to help in promoting the performances.

Watford Pump House chair Lee Farman told the Watford Observer:

“Every year we’re growing in scale and reputation and we’re attracting more and more exciting acts.”

The line-up is likely to be announced by the end of the month. The festival runs between 1st July and 4th August.
