The Hertfordshire venue will play host to performances of Cinderella throughout the festive period, offering a modern take on an old classic.
This story begins in Watford on New Year’s Eve, 1999, with Cinderella dancing alone in her bedroom (cellar). She’s enjoying getting lost in the music – that is, until her Discman stops working.
Meanwhile, at the palace, the ‘Party of the Century’ is being thrown by the King, with the intention of finding a wife for his son, the Price of Pinner. Cinderella’s stepmother sees this as an opportunity for her daughters Christina and Britney to find a spouse.
There will be morning, matinee and evening performances over the Christmas period, giving ample opportunities for both school groups and families to attend. The theatre said:
“The Palace has been the home of panto since 1908, and Christmas just isn’t the same without it. Support your local theatre and be part of our yearly heart-warming Christmas pantomime.”
Poster printing is one of the traditional ways to advertise pantomimes in towns and cities.
Cinderella at the Watford Palace Theatre runs from Thursday, 30th November to Sunday, 31st December. A captioned performance helpful for those who are deaf or hard of hearing will take place on Wednesday, 27th December at 6pm.
