A year on from its introduction, a bike share initiative in Watford has achieved some impressive figures.
The popular Watford-based bike share policy is operated by Beryl. Camelot is the sponsor of the bicycles, while Watford Borough Council has a role in the partnership.
It total, more than 90,000 journeys were made on the bicycles in the scheme’s first year. Print shops can be useful if organisations have something to celebrate, particularly when they hope to communicate with the public.
Additionally, almost 360,000 kilometres (223,694 miles) were travelled on the bicycles over a year. It has been calculated that these journeys saved emissions of almost 60,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide.
Phillip Ellis is the chief executive of Beryl. He told bikebiz:
“It’s proven that cyclists visit local shops more regularly, and spend more than users of most other modes of transport; so I’m confident that Beryl will play a vital role in the rejuvenation of Watford’s local shops in 2021.”
Peter Taylor, the elected mayor for Watford, pointed out that the bikeshare option had been one of his pledges. He said that the partnership has helped to reduce air pollution and congestion.
Watford Business Improvement District’s Maria Manion suggested that Beryl bicycles are an asset for the area. She explained that the project has increased mobility and facilitated meetings between friends. Looking forward, she predicted that firms in the town centre would gain from the partnership.
