Herts Inclusive Theatre (HIT) provides workshops on a weekly basis for adults and children living in Watford and Bushey, and those behind it organised an awards night called Heart of HIT.
Members of the group attended the Mercure Hotel to be honoured for the work they do within the company, with each being asked to appear on stage to receive their rosette. Meanwhile, those who volunteer at HIT were also given awards.
One of the guests for the afternoon was Peter Rutledge, Deputy Mayor of Hertsmere, and he took part in drawing the winning raffle tickets.
Among those who received awards on the day were Janite Morell, who was given an HIT Special Award in recognition of the contribution she has made to the group during the past five years, and HIT youth group member David Gregory.
Afterwards, the Artistic Director for HIT, Caroline England, told the Watford Observer that:
“This really has been the most special afternoon, we can’t wait for next year.”
Local awards ceremonies of this kind are frequently promoted through the use of poster printing in Watford and similar areas to ensure solid attendance.
To round off the occasion, the youth group from HIT performed the sequence featuring the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party from its Alice in Wonderland production.
