Local Indian restaurant could win Tiffin Cup this year

An Indian restaurant within Abbots Langley is in with a chance of taking home the Tiffin Cup this year.

The quality of Forest of India has earned it a commendation in the contest to discover the premier south Asian culinary establishment in Britain. A Watford politician, Richard Harrington MP, has put it forward for the competition hosted by the Tiffin Club. If the restaurant triumphs then its manager Abdul Chowdhury could mention the prize in promotional material, using flyer printing from Watford.

The restaurants in the contest have all been selected on a constituency basis. Politicians have played a big role in the process, but they have consulted with others to help them make positive decisions. Mr. Harrington has explained the process to the Watford Observer:

“I did quite a few straw polls in our area before nominating Forest of India, as well as of course some taste testing, and Forest of India came out top this year.”

Mr. Harrington has pointed out that Indian restaurants across the UK are not simply responsible for the production of fabulous food. He has underlined the fact that the sector has a turnover of approximately £4 billion.

With regard to the Forest of India, the MP has been lavish with his praise. He has said that it has got this far in the competition because of the qualities of its personnel. He has also made a point of singling out Mr. Chowdhury with a specific compliment. The final outcome of the competition will be decided by a cook-off before November.
