Hundreds of individuals converged on the market after stalls had been manned by traders from northern France. If the event is to be promoted next year, poster printing in Watford could be used.
Morag Watkins, an event organiser, has told the Watford Observer:
“It was a really good day and we were lucky with the weather. The town was busy with lots of people and there were community stalls alongside them.”
The event was marked by the playing of French music. Further, appropriate flags were put on some of the buildings in the area. It was also possible for villagers and visitors to take in a display of various crafts.
It has been suggested by Watkins that the market had a positive impact on the takings of cafes and restaurants. In addition, she has contended that the day had a positive impact for local shops because it reminded people from outside the village about their qualities.
With a connection to a bookshop based in the Chorleywood area, Watkins is well aware of the impact the French market has on the rest of the village. She has argued that it could help retail outlets to encourage visitors to get shopping.
