Community stars celebrated at Watford awards evening

The vital work undertaken by people within their local Watford communities has been honoured at a special awards night in the town.

Watford’s Mayor, Dorothy Thornhill, was in attendance for the Audentior Awards, to lead the tributes to the work that these people have done to make the town a better place to live.

The awards bash was held in the Watford Colosseum and also served as a charity fundraiser, generating £1500 for Arthritis Research UK and Herts Inclusive Theatre.

Speaking to a reporter from the Watford Observer, the mayor said:

“This evening is our way of saying thank you to those people who give many hours of their time to the community to make life in the town better for all our residents.”

Local award ceremonies like this often make use of poster printing in Watford and other towns to ensure that residents know about them, and are able to attend if they wish.

Recipients of awards included the Reverend Tim Roberts and Dr Tim Robson, who were given the Mayor Awards for, respectively, their work with the Wellspring Centre and homeless people in Watford.

Among the others honoured at the ceremony were Watford Music Festival organiser Peter Ward, who won Volunteer of the Year, and the local credit union, which took the gong for Charitable Group, with the Charitable Business award being won by the Imagine estate agents.
