Action to minimise road disruption in Watford

An action plan to reduce disruption caused by roadworks in Watford is being followed.

The current roadworks within Watford are likely to last for several weeks. Access via Rickmansworth Road and Whippendell Road is going to continue to be a problem. However, the action plan will ensure that temporary traffic lights limit the impact of the works. Print shops can be useful for communicating with the public, particularly when important local information needs to be widely distributed.

Hertfordshire County Council has been cooperating with Affinity Water in order to make things better for residents. A spokesperson for the council explained the significance of the lead replacement initiative. The spokesperson told the Watford Observer:

“We also have to contend with the other larger schemes taking place throughout Watford and are looking to complete lead replacement before the summer holidays to facilitate other work sites.”

For Affinity Water, public safety is a major concern. The organisation wants to deliver high quality water to local people in the years ahead. In addition, it aims to protect its teams from potential dangers.

Councillor Nigel Bell, who is based at West Watford County Council, feels that more could have been done to assist residents and enterprises in the neighbourhood. He is an advocate of a more efficient approach to roadworks, but he has conceded that the renewal of the pipes is a priority.
