Start date announced for park upgrades in Preston
Proposals for carrying out a number of upgrades to a park in Preston have been approved by the city council, and a date for the work to get underway has been announced.
These improvements will be made to Moor Park, which is Preston’s biggest and oldest park. The work is expected to cost somewhere in the region of £4 million, but users of the park should notice a real difference when it is complete. At the heart of the project are plans to make Serpentine Lake wider and to remove silt from the bottom of it.
This is just the beginning of the changes to be made though. There will also be the restoration of a bridge over the lake, complete with upgraded abutments. The railings that surround Serpentine Lake will be renovated, while fountains will be added to it. The footpaths close to the lake will be improved too, making it easier for people to access it.
Not all of the planned upgrades concern Serpentine Lake. The rest of the park will have new shrubs and trees planted throughout it and the sports pavilion will be modernised.
When upgrades of this sort are being carried out to local amenities, print shops in Preston can be useful, as they can provide flyers telling people how long the work will last, or brochures containing detailed information.
The project will begin this summer.
