These plans concern the building that used to be known as the Park Hotel. It is situated right in the heart of the city, but has been lying empty for the past 15 years. A property developer called Heaton Group now owns the building and wants to turn it into an apart-hotel with 92 bedrooms. This looks set to happen, as £8.6 million of financing has been provided by Homes England.
This money has been unlocked as a result of a partnership between private and public sector organisations. Alongside Homes England and Heaton Group, Hive Land and Preston City Council were involved.
In addition to converting the hotel building, Heaton Group will build 239 flats at the site. These will be build-to-rent properties.
When developers have new local homes for sale or rent, they sometimes turn to shops in Preston that offer brochure printing. Brochures containing pictures of the homes are a good way to showcase them.
Valerie Wise from Preston City Council was quoted by its website as saying:
“We are wholly supportive of this significant collaboration which marks a huge step forward in the city’s regeneration journey.”
