Prestons student start-ups score highly

Student start-ups in the vicinity of Preston have ranked highly in a new report.

The Higher Education Statistics Agency has released data on student start-ups. The information has highlighted the positive performance of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), which is based in Preston. Professor Sue Smith, an interim director at UCLan, stated:

“The University has long since been a sector leader for the large number of start-up businesses created by our students and new graduates.”

Professor Smith explained that the innovation team has invested resources in the ideas of students via a specialist enterprise hub. This funding has enabled entrepreneurs to make something real from their dreams. Business Cards are essential for start-ups, especially when networking is necessary.

Pareto Law, a sales recruitment firm, was involved in the production of the start-up report. The organisation estimated that a total turnover over £880 million may have been generated by almost 15,000 graduate start-ups during the course of 2018.

Jonathan Fitchew is the chief executive at Pareto Law. He paid a generous tribute to successful student-founded enterprises. In addition, he commented that recent economic uncertainty has made life quite difficult for some small businesses.

Jake Butler is a director for Save the Student. In his view, student entrepreneurship is often a rewarding experience for those who take up the challenge. He also believes it adds dynamism to the British economy.
