Prestons Market Hall opens its doors

The new market in Preston city centre is officially open to the public.

The Market Hall has been officially open for a few days. Mayor Brian Rollo and council chief Peter Rankin were present at the opening ceremony. Printing services in Preston could get a boost if the local economy achieves momentum. Councillor Rankin’s statement was reported in the Lancashire Evening Post:

“In 2011 we made the decision to demolish the old building and look at what we have got. It’s great to be here. I well remember meeting the traders for the first time. I have to say over the years I have got to know them. We desperately want to build up their businesses.”

The Mayor of Preston is pleased that the market is attracting a diverse group of shoppers in terms of age. He is especially keen on the Cumberland sausages which can be purchased.

The location of the Market Hall could work out in favour of the traders which are based there. It is situated within easy reach of a major transport hub. Being close to a large retail centre might also boost profits because it means that consumers will be in the vicinity. The hope is that the rejuvenation of Preston’s city centre will transform the city into a great destination.

Councillor Rankin responded positively to concerns about the heating of the Market Hall. The difficulty arose during a spell of abnormal weather.
