Planning permission for the range was secured last November and the amenity will be opened on April 20th by Paul Gallagher, a Preston North End favourite.
A spokesperson for the golf club told the Lancashire Evening Post:
“The driving range will be an asset to the golf club as we look to attract and retain existing members. We believe it will help to transition novice golfers into full playing members.”
School activities and summer camps are set to take place at the range in order to boost youth involvement. Printing services can be useful in providing promotional materials for events like this.
As a result of a nearby housing development being constructed, the club hopes that it can attract new members. Statistical analysis suggests that 6,000 new homes could lead to a growth in membership of 540 people.
Planning permission for the scheme was granted after the application argued that local people required additional golfing facilities. Fulwood Amateurs closed a range last year and this left a lot of golfers reliant on Preston Golf Club if they wanted to engage in undercover practice. Concern was expressed that people might abandon the sport if action was not taken.
