Wolfgang Flür, known for his work with the pioneering ‘70s and ‘80s electronic group Kraftwerk, is due include Preston in his Musik Soldat Tour.
A member of the German band at the height of its success between 1974 and 1987, his contribution was to invent and play most of their electronic-based percussion, particularly in the 1970s.
Flür's membership encompassed the group's worldwide breakthrough release Autobahn (1974), and their experimental proto-techno albums Trans-Europe Express (1977) and Computer World (1981).
Kraftwerk played a seminal role in the development of modern electronic music, with a profound influence has been felt right across all genres from techno to pop, This included inspiring everyone from David Bowie to Depeche Mode and Bjork.
Since he left the band in 1986, Flür has continued to push the boundaries of synth-pop, tech house and electro, releasing the solo albums Time Pie and Eloquence. His memoir, titled I Was a Robot, came out in 2000.
Musik Soldat (translating as ‘Music Soldier’) sees him performing his latest material, as well as pieces from his back catalogue with Kraftwerk.
