Preston-based Harris Museum transforms its caf

The Harris Museum in Preston has transformed its catering offer for visitors.

The focus of the scheme is that the amenity should have a positive social impact. The Calico Group has taken on the project. This not-for-profit organisation wants to do a bit more than provide coffees and cakes to the public. The social enterprise hopes to promote services which help local communities. Leaflets from Preston can be used to showcase community initiatives going forward.

The Calico Group has its headquarters in Burnley. Its coffee shops aspire to boost community well-being. One way this is done is by limiting social isolation. Consumers at Bean Good outlets are empowered to obtain tokens which can be used by less fortunate customers who want a warm drink.

A spokesperson for the Calico Group told the Lancashire Evening Post:

“The pop up café at the Harris will be open Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm, and Sunday 11am-3:30pm. You can enjoy a fabulous range of sandwiches, homemade soup and cakes along with freshly ground coffee, milkshakes and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available.”

The Calico Group recognises the importance of physical and mental health. It is involved in the delivery of recovery services for individuals who have been affected by addiction. In addition, it is engaged in supporting people who may be threatened by the prospect of homelessness.
