Elizabeth Grant, who is 20 years old, lives in the Ribbleton area of Preston and is a student. She overcame the challenge of 49 rivals to win the national title and is now aiming to be crowned Miss World.
She officially took on the mantle of Miss Preston earlier in the year, having been spotted walking down the streets of the town, and she is now set to travel to the international finals in Washington DC at the end of the year.
The national finals were held at the Floral Hall in Southport and the student received her crown from her predecessor, Natasha Hennings. Speaking to a reporter from the Lancashire Evening Post, Grant said:
“I don’t know what to say. I’m surprised I can even make sense right now. I’m so blessed and so grateful to even be here.”
She went on to add that her life had been a blur since winning the Miss Preston crown, as she is in the middle of studying for a degree in psychology, which has had to be combined with charity and pageant related activities.
