Community Gateway intends to build new homes in Preston

Community Gateway Association (CGA) proposes to construct homes in five areas of Preston.

The housing association hopes to put up 14 homes and wants to build on a variety of sites, including a location where a public house used to be. Six homes can be built where West Park Avenue and Ainsdale Drive meet. If the proposals become reality, then Brochures from Preston can be employed to promote the developments.

One idea is that building a limited number of homes in the city could lead to bigger things in the future. This is because CGA is aware of some disused land in the vicinity of a proposed development. The space might be utilised to provide affordable housing going forward. However, such a move would require the co-operation of Lancashire County Council.

Ainsdale Drive could feature a further two homes in any regard. This is because CGA has identified a gap between two existing properties. Filling this empty space would fit with the thrust of one policy of the organisation. This aim of CGA is to make homes of high quality which make use of space effectively.

Preston City Council has given a plot of land to CGA and this is situated within Parker Street. There is already room for two residences at this location. There is a contrast with a situation in Coniston Avenue, where demolition of a building is required to enable construction to move forward.
