Board game aims to boost Prestons third sector

A Preston-based board game is set to be released to celebrate and support local charities.

Winning Moves UK has made a deal with Hasbro so that it can make use of the Monopoly concept. The Preston-based charities that will be represented on the board have been selected by a poll.

George Shrimpton of Winning Moves UK is clear about the potential of the initiative. Shrimpton told the Lancashire Evening Post:

“The game will feature the great and the good of Preston. It’s in effect a love letter to the city.”

Poster printing can advertise such community initiatives, particularly when plenty of publicity is required.

Nine charities will be included within the game. Preston & South Ribble Street Pastors is one of the organisations that might gain from the scheme. This voluntary group has been running for over a decade, and it has assisted countless homeless people at night. It secured a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2018.

Over 30 local landmarks may help to increase the appeal of the board game. It is likely that Deepdale and the Harris Museum shall be positioned prominently on the squares. Charities that are not given an ordinary square of their own will not necessarily lose out, as they might instead benefit from a position on the ‘Chance’ or ‘Community Chest’ cards.

An autumn launch will ensure that consumers can secure the game before Christmas.
