Award nomination for railway attraction in Preston
An attraction in Preston that has become an essential place to visit for lovers of steam trains is in the running for a top regional tourism award.
Ribble Steam Railway and Museum has made it to the final stages of this year’s Lancashire Tourism Awards. This attraction, which is located not far from Preston Docks, has earned its nomination due to the annual Autumn Steam Gala. It is that event that is in the running for a prize, within the category ‘Best Small Event’.
The gala takes place towards the end of September each year, at Chain Caul Road. The 2024 event featured a total of five vintage steam engines, two of which had been specially restored for the occasion. Those who attended were able to enjoy afternoon tea while on board a train, as well as experience workshops dedicated to train driving.
Other activities on offer included visiting the cafe and the steam museum. The latter has won a number of awards for the quality of its exhibits. There was also a special play section for very young children.
Local attractions that win awards sometimes choose to promote that using flyer printing from Preston shops. This enables them to get the word out very quickly and easily.
The railway is up against several other contenders for this award. The winners will be revealed next February.
